- Friday, September 15 2006

National Preparedness Day
When: Saturday, Sept. 16th
Where: Panama City Mall ~ 10 a.m. till 2 p.m.
The Central Panhandle Red Cross Chapter is encouraging Bay County to join a grassroots effort to make sure everyone is better prepared should disaster strike by doing five simple things: make a plan, build a kit, get trained, volunteer and give blood.
"With the possibility of war, terrorist attacks, natural disasters and everyday emergencies, being prepared can help save lives," says Bob Pearce. "These five actions of 'Together We Prepare' will help Bay County residents make their homes, schools, workplaces and communities safer." From a local house fire to a major regional hurricane, the American Red Cross has been there helping people prepare for and respond to disasters for more than 100 years.
Attend the National Preparedness Day Event on Saturday, Sept 16th from 10a.m. till 2 p.m. at Center Court of Panama City Mall. There are exciting door prizes, such as a new Generator, plus information from these community services:
* Bay County Emergency Services * Bay County Health Dept. * FEMA * Fire Department * Knology TV 10 * Gulf Power * Jackson Hewitt * Naval Support Activity * Salvation Army * Project H.O.P.E - Life Management Center * Gulf Coast Women's Club * Bay County Chapter of The Red Cross * Bay County Sheriff's Dept. * Disaster Response Team * Tyndall Air Force Base
What Preparedness Day Is ...
Mission: Partner with others in the community to educate the public to be ready to meet any natural or man-made disaster.
In a collaborative effort with the federal government, Homeland Security, and other members of the emergency planning community, the Central Panhandle Chapter of the American Red Cross and its partners are better able to serve the community. Through its bold, "Together We Prepare" initiative, the Red Cross is leading the way in empowering individuals and families to protect themselves by urging the public to attend the National Preparedness Day at the Panama City Mall on Sat., Sept .16th from 10 a.m. till 2 p.m.
In the wake of current and past events, we feel, more than ever, the northwest Florida residents need to have preparedness first and foremost on their minds.
